Our Equipment

Grinders for Any Job, Whatever the Access

Eastleigh's housing stock ranges from Edwardian semis to brand-new builds, each with different garden layouts and access challenges. Our fleet of four grinders covers them all — from a handheld unit for the tightest spaces to a tracked machine for larger sites.

Hand-Held Grinder

Hand-Held Grinder

This compact grinder is carried by hand, so it fits where nothing else will. We can bring it through a house, a garage or even down narrow side paths. It’s perfect for tiny gardens, tricky corners and hard-to-reach spots.
Small Grinder – Zipper XI-BSF1500

Small Grinder – Zipper XI-BSF1500

Our small grinder fits through the smallest of garden gates and works well in tight spaces. It’s light on your lawn and ideal for smaller stumps close to walls, fences or flower beds. It’s fast, neat and leaves your garden tidy and useable again.
Medium Grinder – Predator Power 28

Medium Grinder – Predator Power 28

The Predator 28 is the perfect blend of power and access. Its adjustable tracked base lets us move over soft ground, slopes and uneven areas with ease. It handles medium to large stumps and works well in most gardens and commercial spaces.
Large Grinder – Rayco RG55T

Large Grinder – Rayco RG55T

When you’ve got a big stump, this is the beast you want. The Rayco RG55T has huge grinding power and cuts through large hardwood stumps with speed. It’s built for large gardens, estates, building sites and commercial jobs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about stump removal? Our FAQ section covers everything you need to know to get started.

Ask a Question
  • What do you specialise in?

Tree stump removal — nothing else. It’s all we do, which means we’ve invested in the best equipment and training for the job. We serve homes, businesses, and building sites, handling anything from a lone garden stump to large-scale clearance work.

  • What's the problem with leaving a stump in the ground?

Left alone, stumps decay slowly and attract fungi, wood-boring insects, and other pests. Honey fungus in particular can spread underground to healthy plants nearby. Stumps also trip people up, block mowing, and look unsightly. Grinding removes the stump and all of these headaches in a single visit.

  • How does stump grinding work?

A high-speed cutting wheel fitted with tungsten-carbide teeth grinds the stump down layer by layer. We work below ground level so nothing is left poking up. The grindings fill the hole naturally — you can leave them to decompose, use them as garden mulch, or have the area levelled with topsoil and reseeded.

  • How do you decide on the price?

Stump diameter is the main factor. We measure at ground level across the widest point. Number of stumps and access conditions also play a part. A photo and a measurement is usually enough for us to send an accurate quote. Got several stumps? The more you have, the better the rate.

  • Can you reach stumps with restricted access?

Yes — it’s something we plan for on every job. Our lightest machine is handheld and fits through standard doorways, so we can walk it through a house or along a narrow passage. For gardens with a side gate, our compact grinder usually passes straight through. Access issues are factored into the quote from the outset.

  • Why is grinding better than the alternatives?

It’s the fastest, cleanest method by a distance. Chemical treatments take months and don’t remove the stump. Digging tears up the surrounding area. Leaving it to decay can take a decade. Grinding deals with the stump in one visit, with minimal disruption to the rest of your garden.

  • Do I need a specialist, or can my tree surgeon handle the stump?

A specialist is almost always the better choice for the stump itself. Tree surgeons focus on the tree above ground. We focus on what’s left below. Our equipment is heavier-duty and designed specifically for grinding, so we work faster and typically charge less per stump. Ask your surgeon for a fell-only price and come to us for the rest.

  • What about hiring a grinder and doing it myself?

We understand the appeal, but the reality is less straightforward:

    • Qualifications matter: We hold NPTC certification. Operating a grinder without it is risky and potentially dangerous.
    • Safety protocols: We risk-assess every site, use PPE, and set up debris shields. A DIY job typically skips all of this.
    • Hire costs add up: Day-rate hire can cost more than our per-stump price, especially for smaller or quicker jobs.
    • Power difference: Hire machines are designed for light use. Ours cut through dense hardwood stumps without stalling.
  • How do I pay after the job?

Choose whichever method works for you:

    • Credit Cards
    • Debit Cards
    • Bank Transfers
    • Cash

Credit and Debit Cards Accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay

No deposit, no upfront payment. You pay when the work’s complete. We discount multiple stumps and are happy to discuss any invoicing requirements — just ask.

  • How quickly can you reach Eastleigh?

Eastleigh is right on our doorstep, so scheduling is usually quick. Many jobs are completed within a few days of the quote being accepted. Get in touch and we’ll let you know our next open slot.

  • Can you remove stumps from new-build gardens in Eastleigh?

Yes — it’s a common request. New estates sometimes leave stumps from site clearance. Our compact grinders work well in the smaller gardens typical of recent builds.

  • Do you offer discounts for multiple stumps in Eastleigh?

We do. The more stumps on one visit, the better the rate per stump. Include all your stumps when you request a quote and we’ll price the lot together.
